  • 2014 White Burgundy Lunch (Grappa Leichhardt): DG's bottle and like me he has seen a few of these. Pale gold in colour with mandarin peel, citrus oil and rich yellow stone fruits, ripe citrus and tangy orange peel. The classy RP&F oak sits over all else at the finish. I have opened bottles like this, that needed a day to open and show their exotic tangy fruit profile. Decant and be patient 18.25<18.75.

  • Wow. What a wine. Presents as an over the top Chassange Montrachet with yellow stone fruit and opulent richness then kicks you in the balls with 2014 structure and typicity. Every bottle tried gets better than the previous one. Suspect the vintage is the winner. If you have 2014 treasure them as they are unicorns. Classic structure and amazing depth of flavour and extract but not obvious. I will leave my remaining bottles for 2028. 19.

  • Have not tried one of these for a while. On opening, rich and showing a touch of heat. Needs a decant and then followed over 4 hours, by which time the acid spine has tightened the palate. Nose remains a touch exotic for me, orange peel and spicy oak overlay, subtle pear and yellow stone fruit also present. It’s a food wine. Loved it with porchetta. If opening give it 4-6 hours decant to see it at its best. 2022-2028. 18.25.

  • Floral bouquet. Spicey/zesty on the palate with just a hint of minerality peeking out but a strong acidic backbone. Beautiful deep yellow colour. Nice heaviness/weight in the mouth. I completely agree with others who note that at this young age, this wine requires some air and time to let the oak blow off a little. Decanting may be a prudent choice. I am sure this will age well for 5 years at least.

  • The fourth of a six pack and it's available to re order from RP&F, so will I?
Pale gold in colour. Not oxidised, but seems advanced, with mandarin peel, citrus oil and a hardness to the finish. How will it be day 2? I suspect better than today, but we will see. Underneath it all there are rich yellow stone fruits, ripe citrus and tangy orange peel. The classy RP&F oak sits over all else at the finish. I suspect this bottle may be atypical. Stay tuned. Day two, hardness has gone, the wine has tightened up and the citrus peel to the finish is more mandarin, oily and exotic. I will reload and definitely decant on opening.
