Misleadingly appealing even immediately after opening, this wine needs about an hour and ten minutes in the glass to come fully to life. Red plums, tomatoes, raspberries, flowers, black pepper, a bit of strawberries, grilled meat, a wisp of smoke, all followed by a lovely and very long aftertaste ending with a hint of fragrant oranges. Full of life, but with a touch of elegance as well. Just a wonderful, beautiful wine! No hurry at all. [Tasted over a bit less than an hour and a half from the Jancis Robinson glass.]

Opened, decanted and then enjoyed. Tasted with food and over two following days after refrigeration and vacuvin. Dark color. Wonderful nose offering dark fruits, wet earth, black olive tapenade. Hint of menthol. Floral elements as well. Beautiful rich dark fruit intro with cherry and blackberries. Slight menthol touch that leans to but avoids menthol cough syrup. ((that dissipates with more exposure to air). Long finish with the floral element coming through on the finish. This was a beautiful bottle of wine.
Quality cork; wax capsuke; wine is indicative of high quality cool climate California syrah. 12.2% abv.

I think between BHP1994 (needs about an hour of air) and Fussyeater's comments, it perfectly sums up this wine. The only place I would differ is I think there's not necessarily a rush to drink. Our bottle was still very fresh with no bricking or real signs of age, though I'm not sure it would develop any further with more time in the bottle.

Agree with the last couple comments. Drinking beautifully right now. White and purple flowers and cedar.

I have no idea what people are thinking that this gets a sub 89 rating. This is spectacular Syrah and it is drinking superbly now...
