  • Pretty solid, high quality cork. Full mahogany / orange pekoe tea colour. Very clear. Warm cedar, vanilla and sour cherries on the nose. A touch of mint, leather and dried rose hip as well. Perhaps just a slight bit of brett, but not in a bad way. Very delicate and subtle. Medium bodied, very soft, good acidity, no tannins, supple dried fruit extract and quite dry. Flavours of sweet and sour cherry, leather, soft vanillin oak and a touch of mint. Quite lovely. Fill out in the glass with more air and actually builds on the finish and leaves a sappy ripe red fruit impression. Bravo for its longevity and tastiness! 92 points from me.

  • Incredible, near the pinnacle of mature tradtionally-styled Rioja. If only every Tempranillo followed this trajectory.

  • Last bottle of this classic. Still drinking beautifully. Deep and delicious.

  • Huge bouquet of black tea, balsamic, old leather. Significant oak influence in this wine, but it is extremely well integrated and sweet. Definite brown tinge at the edges, looks well aged, and it is quite mature but the palate is very vibrant. Tannins are fully resolved, and this is settling into a comfortable old Rioja flavor profile. A casual observer would think this wine has one foot in the grave, but experience says this could hang on for a very long time.

  • This is very much a food wine. The acidity and tannins are strong, and the fruit relatively muted. The wine is mature and drinking as well as it ever will. Tinges of brick in the hue. Very nice, but nothing extraordinary.
