2017 Horizontal Berthaut (Empire Chinese Cuisine): Slow ox for about 3 hours, dark and red fruits mixed together, minerality at the back, good freshness, on the palate dense and broad, lots of stuffing with excellent long finish with good flavours, lovely acidity.

Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): It took a while, but the TCA eventually became really obvious. I had my doubts originally, but initially the TCA was very mute, so the wine just felt like it needed a lot of air. Clearly good material here.

From 5 small parcels. Flamboyant bouquet of densely-packed dark berries, smoked earth and gravel. Expressive and well-balanced already (just like many 2017 reds). Low-pitched yet intoxicating with a voluminous earthy flavour. 20% whole cluster. Tasted blind and guessed 2017 Gevrey Chambertin Premier Cru. (91/100)

2022 Excellent Burgundy Adventure; 10/31/2022-11/6/2022 (Burgundy): Expressive nose displaying perfectly ripe black and red fruit, Asian spice, rose, sap, sweet spices and limestone. Very good concentration, beautifully layered black and red fruit, silky and precise, perfect amount acidity and mineral, and a seamless long pure black and red fruit driven finish. Really enjoyable.
