Community Tasting Notes (8) Avg Score: 90.7 points

  • This was a particularly strong bottle and probably the best example of this that I've had. Straight out of the bottle, this was very Viura forward, with big notes of quince, Meyer lemon and chamomile all coated with the expected waxiness. With about 30-60 minutes the whole thing filled out with with a mouthful of juicy cherry and light strawberry, adding a new level of decadence to the earthier Viura base. The fruit and acid build until giving way to pronounced mineral notes on a really long and complex finish. With a bottle this good, it really drank like a mini-Lopez de Heredia, with a younger / brighter fruit profile. I've also had bottles where that certainly wasn't the case.

  • You really need to like Viura to enjoy this wine. You get the initial hit of cherry, strawberry and a touch of blood orange... and then Virua. It gets that waxy funk, quince, light Chamomile... and then a touch of barrel notes. If you like it, you'll love it, but a lot of people will ask why something tasting like this looked like their Rosé.

A good introduction to the Clarete style, but this doesn't have the concentration or ageabilty of the Heredia Rosado, which is the leader of a, sadly, small pack.

  • Second bottle of this vintage. As usual very serious with great structure. Lovely red fruit, quite a bit of oak and fresh acidity. Great summer foodwine.

  • I coudn't resist the urge to open another bottle. Great wine. only thing for me is the too present oak. Nose with fresh red fruit. Palate with lots of freshness, pomegranate. Finish like a 'peredrup' but I think nobody outside the Netherlands knows this pear shaped candy.

  • Knaller, aber kein Sommerwein; zu Sushi, Fisch allgemein; auf jeden Fall wieder zu kaufen
