  • Wow - this is a massive wine, and we may have opened it slightly on the earlier side - I can only imagine how much this wine will evolve in the bottle over time. It blows up in your nose upon opening - but definitely could use at least an hour decant at this stage. Incredibly fruit forward nose that opens up to more cacao/chocolate notes as it breathes, but we enjoyed this wine so much.

  • After waiting almost three years to get these bottles, it was time to open one at a restaurant in Prince Edward County. The wine was decanted for 45 minutes and it was clear and deep blood red in colour with a nose full of ripe cherries.
In the glass were those ripe cherries mixed with some raspberries and a hint of tobacco. The tannins and acidity were at a medium level. This wine was listed at 15.8% alcohol but didn't seem to be that level to me. I would have guessed in the 14% range.
This is a great start for winemakers Nikolas and Julia Krankl and I look forward to trying more of their wines.

  • Annual Wine Group Summer Event - BBQ Brisket at Siggy's (Siggy & Jenny's Place, Mpls, MN): Small tasting pour. Brief note. Tons of juicy black fruits, deep and powerful, full bodied, bold, well balanced; impressive if not really my style. Others will really love this.

  • Double decanted over three hours...Strawberry-rhubarb pie, rosemary, thyme, baked rock, dried elderberry, pomegranate and pain grille. The middle palate is round and viscous, with an angelic quality; there’s great weight and lithe aspects. This flows and the feathery tannins give way. Unique and addicting. What a treat and worth the attention. Bravo/brava to Nikolas and Julia for such an amazing inaugural release. You can’t help but to experience the required depth. I receive a fair amount of stem inclusion. Drink 2023 - 2035.

  • I really like this wine. Generous fruit - I’m getting mostly reds with a little purple. Very big wine, yet very well balanced. A touch earthier than its Santa Barbara County cousins (or parents?) - another user mentioned ‘baseball dirt’ and i see what he was talking about. Possibly slightly reduced which makes sense given the youth.
Above all, it’s balanced, generous, alluring and hard to put down. Exceeds high expectations.
