Slow O'd for an our or so. Five of a bottle, initial short pours; the meal was too lively to get a good sense of the wine but it was very enjoyable. Earth and rich, but slightly bitter on the medium finish. Drink now; unlikely to improve.
Paired with grilled swordfish and chicken; many sides.

Compared to the bottle I had six months ago, this seems an entirely different wine. This was comparatively stellar, or at least conformed to my notion, based on limited experience, of an outstanding Nuit St. Georges. Nice intense cherry red: garnet core. Nose of strawberry preserves and cherry, with damp earth. On the shy side of medium bodied. On the palate, red berries with a drop of guava; mineral earth notes with wet slate. A wine to enjoy leisurely with a light autumn meal.

(Rion Daniel Nuits St.Georges Les Grandes Vignes) Medium, medium-plus young colour. Some oak, but also very pretty fruit with a faintly spicy width. Good concentration, the intensity builds aided by super acidity and equally super mouth-watering length. Very good.

Root with raspberry and earth. Mineral finish with fresh acidity. Long lingering dry tannin. Tart cherry and mint aftertaste.

2005 was a wonderful year and this Rion is a great example. Will definitely outlive the 2009s.

Nice power, good fruit, some body from oak. Smooth and round. A very nice wine.
