Just finished this after opening 3 days ago. I liked this but I didn’t get zin, Barbera maybe. On the lean side yet still showing fruit, dark cherry, focused. I’d say ready to drink now.

Turley's "Buck" Cobb Vineyard Zinfandel typically includes small amounts of Petite Sirah, Mourvèdre and Alicante Bouchet. Given the vagaries of the vintage, the latter two grapes were excluded in 2020. The aging process included 15 months in a combination of French (80%) and American (20%) oak, with 20% of all barrels being new. Tasted over a three-hour interval from a bottle that had been decanted through a Vinturi aerator, it is a deep ruby wine that offers aromas and flavors of Bing cherries, boysenberries, mulling spices, licorice, dill and menthol. Medium-to-full-bodied, fresh, judiciously oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 15.0%), it wraps its flavors with midweight, fine-grained tannins and stays dense in the middle. The finish lingers nicely and adds a pleasant note of bittersweet chocolate. This is an excellent red that should continue to show well throughout the remainder of this decade. If you choose to pop the cork at this juncture, give it a couple of hours in carafe. Drink now-2030.

Cedar, bramble, sappy boysenberry jam. Great Zin. Distinctive. Nothing like a Barbera as mentioned in another review. Great value at $20. Drink.

Underwhelming, not up to Turley’s usually high standards.
