Classic syrah - olive, violets, meat. Not quite as open from the start as 2020 iles feray, but over a few days this really picks up steam. Retry in 3-5 years.

Deep purple, not opaque. Violets, vivid blueberry, and pine needles. Medium weight, not at all heavy but great mouth coverage and penetration. Lively black and blue fruit, light herbs, excellent acidity, and ripe, yielding tannins with minimal austerity at the back end. Although there is some talk of the "natural" tendencies of this winemaker, I found this to be clean yet full of character. Elegant and approachable. I don't see it as something that needs a lot of age.

Syrah Young and Old (Winchester): Heavy Metal bands from Stoke on Trent don’t make wine labels - but if they did, they’d make this one. Fab nose - a fellow diner described it as “young Syrah” - factually accurate of course but there’s more here, some zip, sone excitement. I’d previously though of Bourg as having a kind of New Allemand character - it’s true but there’s more here, maybe a kind of broadness? This is drinking great now but has such a life ahead of it.
Very dark, almost violet. Absolutely obscene nose of sweaty horse and venison. Blood and leather. Gamey and rustic and smoky. Woodsmoke and forest and small furry mammals scurrying about in damp earth. Bloody marvellous.

Initially a bit reduced, but eventually a beautiful nose of purple flowers and warm earth. Blackberries, pepper, bright acid, a bit wild
