  • This pours a slightly more youthful moderate straw yellow with a glimmer of green. The nose features quite a lot of apple cider, with poached pear, clove, a hint of pool toy, white mushroom and mixed florals. Still quite complex. The palate still has lovely elevated acid. Quite a nice wine.

  • Served blind 4 years since the last one and guessed AOC. Amber. Stewed apples, lanolin, round, vague hint of past acidity. Rich and alcoholic, overripe but typical for the appelation. Too old for my taste buds and anyway I prefer a fresher Chenin Blanc style.

  • According with CT my last bottle of this stuff. I know it us me but I am pretty sure there's still one more in my cellar. Have to investigate.
Aged golden colour. Well defined aromas of pears in syrup, sour cherries and cereals. Lovely precision.
On the palate this bottle showed a nice performance: long for what it was, bitter and refreshing. Probably the best of the entire serie. At this point seems to be one coming from Joly's collection.

  • Medium yellow. Seashell, honey, hay, wool. Palate is full, expansive, warm, mineral, medium-long finish. Excellent.

(Savennieres RAM Domaine aux Moines) Roche aux Moines Dear Friends, We’ve been supporters of Roche aux Moines since 2000 and I’m glad they’ve finally had their day in the sun with David S’s review out today in the WA (I’m also glad they believe in loyalty). I snapped up the last of this plus the last of what they would consider to be their “best” wine from a great vintage, the 2002 Cuvee de Nonnes (a wine we’ve offered for the past 4-5 vintages). These are some of the Loire Valley’s finest wines and finest values - the rest of the wine producing world could learn a lesson from this well-intentioned domaine ads their prices are as retro as a second-hand shop. VERY HARD TO FIND: 2004 Domaine Roche aux Moines Savennieres R.A.M. EXTREMELY LIMITED 2002 Domaine Roche aux Moines Savennieres - Moelleux “Cuvee de Nonnes”Much ballyhoo has been made about the 2002s from this estate and this is their top wine. For a 2002 sweet Moelleux of this caliber to still be available at this price is not only bizarre but it is the very reason we have supported the efforts of this woman-owned Laroche winery. Cut and paste the above review, delete “bracingly high-acid matrix/salty mineral dust” and insert “delicious, unctuous, white fruit with Spatlese-level sweetness”. If this were Huet, it would be much more expensive. Coup de Coeur winner from Guide Hachette with stunning verbiage to match. Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Loire9840
