A dry, steely, and minerally wine with aromas of canned pear, dried herbs, white frosting, and sweet peas. Nice balance, subtle fruit and dancing sweet tarts in the mouth. Paired with steamed clams in garlic herb sauce with drenched sourdough bread. Delicious, if I could only be in France right now.

Opened the bottle and there was the initial cat pee araoma of Savennieres! it's not a nice description but I can no other more apt. Beautiful golden color. Minerals, asparagus, and anise on the nose. A heavy palate is a good descriptor as another reviewer wrote, just too heavy and unbalances the wine a bit. Lovely finish. Will buy more.

Dinner and Wine (My House): A nice smooth texture, even with a bit of an oily note, with black licorice and a long, spicy and tangy finish. The finish was the upside for me, with great length and the only nit about the wine was the heavier texture.

Loire Trip (with stops in Beaujolais and the Cote Chalonnaise); 10/2/2008-10/5/2008: A real liqueur of stones. Great extract and balance, this is powerhouse Savennieres and I love it.
