  • This bottle reminded me why I do what I do....this was a humble bottle 10 years ago which evolved into a complex beauty. Dried cherry, cedar, licorice, menthol all hit the nose and palate, and the once rough structure has turned much softer and supple. This wine is a joy, a great example of old world Piedmont that paired so well with homemade meat tortellini.

  • Drink up, needs decanting due to lots of sediment, medium heavy bodied, balanced, good fruit, smooth tannins, lots of flavor and complexity, nice structure, drank with stuffed pork chops, would drink again but won’t find it.

  • It was best after a 4-hour decant. Craisin-strawberry flavors came to the forefront. Also, while still dry, the tannins hit a sweet spot at that time. Good acidity throughout, which made it a good food pairing.

  • Moderate color for Barolo. Nice clarity. Tar nose and cherry flavors with earthy notes and some acidity.

  • Decanted for two plus hours, drank two glasses with dinner, vacuumed sealed and finished on the second day. Still requires a long decant but also displayed a huge tannic structure both days. Signs of bricking, displaying a slightly cloudy crimson hue and medium plus body. Black and red fruits have taken a back seat to the earthiness, bitter dark chocolate and dry leather notes. Still enough tannin and acidity to support future cellaring, but the chewy tannins and fading fruit will limit enjoyment going forward. Paired with spicy beef bulgogi but the wine seemed to overwhelm the food. Definitely seems to have regressed somewhat over four plus years....
