  • Tegenvaller.

Twee uurtjes in karaf. Volgens mij toch overtijd of slechte fles. Veel tertiair, spijtig.
    Afwachten wat laatste flesje geeft.

  • Excellent at opening. Lots of minerality. Gets a bit gamey and funky over time. In good shape.

  • Almost meaty characters green garrigue. A bit funky as it opens up. Very herby nose. Holding up fine.

  • Cornas lunch (Macleay Street Bistro, Potts Point): The appearance is clear and deep ruby in colour. Tears and sediment are visible.

The nose is clean. The aromas have a medium intensity and show notes of mineral (menthol), bottle-age (leather, meaty character), pungent spice (black pepper), black fruit (blackberry, black cherry), and a generic herbaceous character. The wine is developing.

On the palate, the wine is dry with medium acidity, medium alcohol, and medium body. The medium(+) level tannins are ripe and silky in nature. The flavours have a medium intensity and show notes of bottle-age (leather, meaty character), black fruit (blackberry, black cherry), pungent spice (black pepper), and mineral (subtle menthol). The wine has a medium(+) finish.

This is a very good quality wine. The flavours are concentrated and have a great balance with the acidity and the alcohol. The tannins have a good balance with the acidity. The neutral oak treatment does not interfere with the fruit expression. In its current state, the wine shows primary and tertiary characters. The finish has a great length.

The wine drinks well now, but has potential for further ageing. The fruit intensity is great, and the tannin and acid structure should support the wine as tertiary notes continue to develop.

  • Cornas Birthday lunch (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): "Pretty perfumed, touch of rose petal, jubey black berry fruit and green peppercorns, slight leather. Juicy, jubey, fleshy, really very lovely.

After 2 hours it's more leathery, savoury, earthy with black pepper and blackberry, jubey, rich."
