Another great Vaucrains from Chevillon. This is even better than the bottles I enjoyed over the last few years, although it hasn't evolved much and likely has a very long life ahead. 93+

Surprisingly reserved initially, but slowly unwound to reveal a very charming NSG in it's prime drinking window. Decanted and immediately served. Beautiful balance of fruit, acidity and tertiary notes. Showed more freshness than expected, as well. Red and black fruits, sous bois and a hint of spicy herbaceousness. Maybe some tobacco as well? Really beautiful and an absolute pleasure with a variety of dishes (duck breast, prime rib, tomato & burrata salad, etc). This was consumed relatively quickly, and continued to improve with air. I wonder if it would have achieved 94 point level had I had an opportunity to see it continue to evolve.

Light ruby. Lovely aromas of soil, red fruit, and mint. Perfectly elegant medium weight and feel. Mature mix of fruit, earth, and some citrus with fading tannins and terrific length. This is at its peak now. Very refined, almost delicate Vaucrains.

First bottle from a full case. Pnp and drank over 2h. Still a fairly dark garnet. Plenty of wood spices, some bitterness but good weight from pulling the cork but later the elevated acidity becomes fairly dominant. Good length. No rush in drinking and am tempted to say hold and hope for the wine to integrate even better. 91-92 for now
