Decanted in a restaurant for an hour and had not reached any kind of balance. All over the place on the map. Still an incredibly well made wine, but for the price tag, there is no real core to this wine.
3rd time having this in two years and was not impressed by any of the three bottles tasted.
Maybe a great deal of decant time is needed, but I doubt structure will evolve. way too one dimensional for a pro 100 point score

This dense and layered Cabernet blend takes a few hours to open up, but - once it does - it is thrilling. Dark red in color and full in body, the wine offers a cascade of aromas, including coffee bean, dark chocolate, boysenberry, and peppercorn. The flavors are so ripe but so classy, with notes of blueberry, rosemary, gravel, and eucalyptus, with a finish that goes on and on. Blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 12% Petit Verdot, and 8% Cab Franc. 15.8% alcohol.
This is the first vintage where Allison Tauziet took the lead as winemaker (after serving for an assistant winemaker for five years to Mark Aubert, who left in 2/07). It is no surprise that Tauziet is still there; ambitious but measured, this wine is incredible, with a depth and nuance that a Futo 2007 could not match tonight. Drink in next 3-5 years, but no rush.

Deep garnet color with purple hues. Sweet fruit nose with red meat, Asian spice and tart, black cherry. Ripe raspberry, chocolate and a hint of rhubarb and wet tar. 5-10+ years to go with beautiful, solid structure and grippy tannins. This wine will easily evolve with time.
p.s. charcoaled grilled beef tenderloin with cilantro, lime cauliflower rice.

Dark fruits and a touch of capsicum. Full bodied, dark fruited with wonderful fine but firm tannins, oak protrudes a touch, very long, finishes with a very persistent glycerol sweetness. This was tasted alongside a Las Cases 2009 and it really emphasised the bustiness and sweet finish of the Colgin. This one will cruise along in the cellar for some time yet. 15.6% ABV.

Two-hour decant. Perhaps the finest example of a New World fruit-Old World style red I’ve had. Really well done.
