Eleventh bottle from a full case purchased at auction in 2018. The first two bottles were fine, the subsequent eight bottles were all faulty. This is another good one. Pristine condition, perfect level and cork. Mature but lively appearance, bright red core; remarkably fresh and energetic nose for a 28 year old wine, tart red berries, tobacco and some leathery notes, hints of flowers and warmth from the wood; the palate is light-bodied (11% ABV), with the typically high acidity of the Ramisco-grape and a gentle sweetness, grippy skin tannins, tart red berries and subtle notes of white nuts and balsamic; the dry and lifted finish with a touch of cold tea leaves the palate dry but perfumed. Seemingly ageless. (91). Softer and more harmonious on the second day, classical but not as austere, no signs of decay. (92). Decades ahead of it.

Cork disintegrates. Preternaturally youthful, yeasty, little or no fruit, little or no tannins. No noticeable carbon dioxide, but the malolatic probably continued in the bottle.

Not a speck of sediment (which is a shame). Very subtle but excellent food wine. Just thinking that young wine never has the honeycomb flavor. This has oodles of honeycomb with some prunes and dirt in the mouth. Perfumed nose of blueberry, chocolate orange and old leather. Medium length finish dried apricots and frankincense.

Good cork this time, but otherwise as before. Cherry coke gone flat.
