Color of rich old gold was the first sign that this was in a good place for the age. Showed the rich apple tart on the nose with some marzipan. Has the concentration that I hoped for in a grand cru since I don't have white GC often. The apple and creamy butteriness came through in the mouth with well balanced acidity so that it was just perfect on the finish. An ideal match for lobster and lobster bisque. I think this is near perfect now but probably will hold on for several more years.

Ripe orchard fruit everywhere, still fresh and vibrant with great acidity and minerality, most notably on finish. Still wonderful three hours after opened. Exceptional for the vintage.

Bouchard Père et Fils Grand Cru: Lieu-dit Cru Blind White Burgundy Dinner (S.K.Y. Restaurant - Chicago IL): Tasted single blind alongside the 1996 Chevalier-Montrachet. Perfumed and spice driven start with moderate age, but nobody thought this was close to this old.Very ripe apple and baked apple with faint tropical hints. Very dense and powerful concentration. Very long, well textured finish.

Better than anticipated. Not over the top. Plenty of acid. Great with lobster. Many years to go.
