Seemed "very 2003", lacking the trademark Maume animal on one hand and grand cru finesse on the other. Nice quaff with beautiful resolved tannin, smokiness and fruit, but missing the grand cru Burgundy other.

Purchased at a Hart-Davis-Hart auction about 6 yrs. ago. Since then it's been stored at 55 deg. F and 70% R.H. The ullage was less than 0.25 in.
This wine is shy. It needs a 5 hr. decant to reveal its' character. Ruby red at the center with slight browning at the edges. Dark cherry, clove, and steel on the nose. Big, rich, flavors of dark cherry with notes of clove on the palate. Fabulous mouth feel! And it has just the right amount of acidity to accentuate the flavors. Tannins are still present, but rounded and not harsh. Its' balance indicates it has a long life ahead.

Attractive; earthy/terroir Gevrey-Chambertin aromas mixed with dark cherry and oak very much integrated. Slight tertiary and jammy (2003 being a hot year), yet this Domaine very much had overripeness in check. Starting to show brick tones, but still relatively fresh. More elegance than power, with velvety tannins. Drink now.

certainly mature with the fruit now receding into the background - fine and complex but there may be a risk of this drying out so drink soonish
