  • This was a wonderfully big wine. The nose had some vegetive scents and maybe seemed a bit hot. Flavor (and alcohol percentage) was not hot, but full of dark fruit, spice, earth and a bit of anise. It is a dry wine with well balanced tannins and a really long spicy finish. Really sorry not to have more of this wine.

While some soft, sweet smelling red fruit came out with swirling, the real joy here was just to taste the damn thing, and all is good. Dark cherry fruit contains both a sweet and slightly tart edge and some shades of tree bark. Great and fine balance between the tannic and acid structure, very seamless. Has the satisfaction of being a fruit bomb, but without actually going down that road. Meticulous winemaking here has often the case with this producer. Firmly falls into the camp of ‘could age longer but ridiculously hard not to drink today camp’. I can’t think of a better new world Mourvedre.
