Ripe red cherry, plum, dried tobacco and tarragon. Full bodied, spicy; round with high alcohol on the entry. Very fruit forward, but good acidity keeps it in check. Good wine, but not a classic Brunello. It finishes quite hot.

After a tasting of 6 Paolo Bea wines, this was a refreshing change of pace. I'll take the wines of Tuscany over Umbria any day. That said, a bowl of lentils on a cold night is probably better with Paolo Bea than Ciacci Piccolomini. So food choices are really important when it comes to Paolo Bea, not so much with a great example of the '16 vintage from Montalcino that can easily be consumed without food.

Tasty dark red fruits, spice, and earthy notes on the nose and savory palate with chewy tannins on the moderate finish.

Fantastic. This is so intense, silky and long. One of the competitors for best 2016 Brunello

deep red middle but opaque edges, aroma of dry cherries and tobacco, smooth rich entry with peppery tones and lingering deep finish
