This bottle of 1996 Borgogno Barolo Classico doesn’t taste right. Tasted blind – Resolved nose of saturated red cherry, tar, and leather. Going downhill. Traditional style. Nebbiolo? Arpepe? 2006? (66/100)

Decanted one hour and drank with grilled veal. Rich color, no bricking or pale rim. A big wine with lots os tannin and acidity. Muted/cooked fruits but not much eucalyptus or menthol. Hard to believe this wine is 24 years old!

Très léger voile liégeux qui gâche un peu le plaisir.

No detailed notes. Double decanted at Noon for an 8pm dinner.
Ready to go! Great balance and fruit. In a really great place right now and for at least another 5 years I’d guess.

Piedmont Night at Winil on March 16, 2018 (Winil, Moscow): 93+/100
A beautiful second bottle of Borgogno Classico Riserva, opened yesterday at Piedmont night.
Dark brown color, slightly cloudy. Aromas are jammy, with dark fruit and prune, earthly - and then opening with fresh champignons. Stellar.
Palate needs time - woody tannin and spiky acidity, that are both striking at first, eventually come together in one multilayered structure.
Great bottle to accompany Saturday evening viewing of Barolo Boys the movie.
