  • Very good, but still oh so primary. This took 5 hours to begin to show its true colours. Deep dark fruit, blackberry, cassis, red cherry and a hint of raspberry laced with a hint of menthol and a touch of smoke. Tannins still a bit chewy on the finish. Not much secondary or tertiary development here. At 19 years old, I think this needs at least another 5-10 years to come into its own. 94pts

  • Absolutely at the entrance of its drinking prime, the 2005 has gently stepped into the drinking window with just one foot while the other foot is still anchored solidly on the other side, providing structure and age ability. It was 3 hours after the fun had started when the real LB showed up to make a statement with its clear left bank demeanor and its Pauillac feel, shining in graphite and unsmoked tobacco. Really muscular underneath still, with great tug and pull, this has the ability to age and in my opinion, surpass the 2000. A relative bargain in the Bordeaux/Pauillac/2005 world. Drink or HOLD

  • I absolutely love it! Pure pure black fruits, slightly sweet, perfect ripeness with great depth, very fine texture, long finish! More like a dream and the good news is, it is still ascending to another level of greatness! Magical in my view!

  • Excellent and in the right spot, drink now or in the next 3-5 years

  • Very nice on the nose with cassis, cherries, leather, forest notes, and red fruit. Good acidity with more red and dark fruit, cherries, and quite a bit of tannins on the palate. Nice finish. This is still very primary and young but should evolve beautifully. 94++
