Monastrell (Mourvèdre) from Jumilla. Grapes picked early in the morning to beat heat. French oak barrels from famous cooperages. Blended and aged in 800 liter amphorae. Profound and round on the nose, red fruit, herbal, not macho at all (not in a bad way). Slightly earthy but certainly not typical in any way. High tannins but soft and ripe. Still young and linear and not a wine to start the night, but definitely a safe bet. Could use a few more years to integrate the oak.

Deep ruby in the glass. Solid complexity on the nose showing tons of ripe red fruit (strawberry, raspberry, dark cherry), baking spices, slight cigar tobacco. Full-bodied, but lacks power that MMM usually has and especially depth. The wine feels diluted and weak for a Monastrell from this region. No real interest.
