Lemon, flowers, hint of honey on the nose. Nice balance on the palate, fresh acidity with good ripeness and matiere. Honeyed again. Quite lightweight but attractive.

There are white peach and nectarine fruits here cut with grapefruit. It has excellent depth and richness for its level and is very long. Really good Village wine.

The Chassagne-Montrachet Village comes from the Les Houillères parcel with small portions of En Journoblot and declassified 1er Crus. Les Houillères was planted in 1989 with a Sélection massale. The plot ripens very early and accordingly is almost always the first to be harvested. The soils are shallow and deep, consisting of a red clay-limestone mixture: They are found as an extension of the famous Les Enceignères site on the back of the hill.
Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in a combination of neutral barrel and tank. Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally and the wine remains on its lees without any bâtonnage. The new wood content is around 20 %. Sulphur is only added in the last six months in the barrel, and several times with minimal doses, so that the wine never exceeds 35 mg/l in total.
medium straw yellow
Thomas Morey's Chassagne-Montrachet 2020 presents itself brighter, somewhat more citrusy, chalkier than the previous vintage. On the nose, it is reminiscent of green and yellow plums, Meyer lemons, green pears, white flowers and herbs. There is a hint, but really only a hint of reduction and further ripe blanched almonds.
On the palate, the Chassagne-Montrachet is immensely elegant, silky and slightly nutty with white and yellow fleshed fruit, some citrus and herbs. The wine appears ripe and round, the texture silky and fine, but at the same time has a good grip. For a local wine, it offers a lot of nobility and a nice depth, but proves to be immensely drinkable in its combination of silkiness, freshness, fine minerality and nuttiness. This is a very balanced, harmonious Village.

As most CT’s the word ‘ flower and peach ‘ feels like nailing this wine…Its good , but I miss some minerality. Perhaps I am more of a Puligny guy…

Lemon, white flowers, spice and stone fruit. Very good volume and intensity on the palate for a village wine with nice dose of mineral attack.
