Decanted for around one hour. Deep crimson color. Gorgeous nose of ripe blackberry, cassis, a bit of blueberry compote, purple florals and a touch of sweet vanilla and toasty oak in the background. Similar flavors on the palate with incredible balance of fruit, oak, tannin and acidity. Silky smooth mouthfeel with a long finish. Best bottle of this vintage yet and I have one more left.

I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive opening up this bottle fearing a version of overripe, vanilla rich, oak filled Napa fruit bomb. We had family over, bbqed tri-tip and home made burgers and I opened the bottle alongside a WA cab and a Syrah. This wine pleasantly surprised, was fruity yet well balanced with notes of chocolate, coffee, sage. A serious Napa cab, made the right way. That being said, the QPR is holding me back to add more to my cellar.

Good fruit on the nose and open. Hints of stone and slightly tannic finish.
