Big, fat cabernet sauvignon-based Paso Robles Bordeaux blend with a relatively high amount of petit verdot (20%). Lots of mocha, soft, without much tannin. Enjoy now or in the near future.

Popped and poured, didn't need a decant. Dark garnet in color, almost "murky". Nice nose, dark fruits with a hint of floral and vanilla. Light on the tannins strong mid palate but a little week on the finish. Very nice but I would drink now, I am not sure this will go much longer.

Color: dark ruby core -> medium-deep ruby rim. Bouquet of raspberries, cherries, cassis, a little iodine and some sweet vanilla. Palate took about an hour to come around and at that point presented a smooth, lithe, soft expression of Paso Cabernet. Very red-fruited to my palate with distinct gingerbread overtones. Quite lovely and a stellar first effort for this particular bottling. Tannins present but soft, appropriate acidity, good midpalate weight and nice finish; think of this as your classic Goldilocks wine: everything is 'just right.' While this has great balance and IMO will last several years longer, there is no need to defer enjoyment since I think this is about as complex as it's going to get.
