A great wine, but past its peak. Now darkish yellow in color. Apricot, dried fruit, apple and some citrus. Flint, butter scotch, nutmeg. Still drinking nicely but lacking the freshness and length it once had. A 2nd bottle opened was faulty, oxidized. Both were purchased from a retailer for which storage conditions could not be verified.

Of the many quality Chardonnays that are produced in Israel, this one is the most Burgundy style. Relatively moderate on the oak, with minerals, nuts, citrus. Very nice indeed.

Israeli wines offline in London (La Trouvaille, London): 100% Chardonnay, fermented and aged in 2/3 new French oak. This had a fruity nose of apricots, white flowers and hints of melted butter. Quite a well balanced and fruity mid-palate with nice acidity. Very enjoyable but not as interesting as the 2000.
