From magnum. This was in the zone. Spices, red fruits, anise, garrigue, very grenache which was great after all the Burg and Barolo. Wonderful balance here and good complexity. No rush on the 2012s esp from large format.

First bottle from a case of 12. Medium red color. A bouquet of rose petals, mint tea, licorice and dark fruit. Dark fruited palate, dates, spices. True to place with great purity of fruit and also very young still.

Tasted over 3 hrs -saturated dark red with purple hue minimal clearing -heady grenache kirsch faint tar -med acidity, med+ weight rich kirsch fig fruit cake, a bit of heat accentuates the med tannins -while no longer fruit forward there are no overt mature elements yet, thus combined with the tannic structure this may still have room to improve if the heat doesn't become more prominent

Though this was a very solid wine, even after 12 hours of decanting, over 2 days, it was a formidable opponent. Highly tannic, stubborn as they get, and not particularly generous. This has not been my experience with Charvin in general. But, it sure was this time.
Was the bottle in a dumb phase? Does it need more time to develop? Was it an off bottle?
