I am a big fan of Falkenstein's Rieslings so I was really excited to try their Spätburgunder. I get that 2021 is a cold vintage with electric acid, and I love that in their Rieslings, but I don't feel the fruit in this wine can really keep up. It smells like super underripe red fruit and some herbs. The aromatic intensity lacks the intensity of the palate, which bombards you with acid and no sugar for respite. I left it open for a few days to see if it would calm down and it hardly changed at all. This really is a wine only for the most dedicated acid freaks.

Savory, salty, floral on the nose, yuzu and red berries, crazy tart and juicy on the palate, this is phenomenal. Not sure about saving it for long, but it's not gonna fade soon. Yummy.

I am not the biggest fan of Rosé as I sometimes feel like the wines lack both the freshness of white wines and the body and structure of a red wine. This is different, not surprisingly made in a very fresh, tense style, this is showing both acidic tension, minerality and a touch of a red wineish feel. Notes of strawberries, cranberries, citrus, stony minerality, orange zest, also some pomegranate, also an almost salty chalky mineral note. It‘s lighter-medium bodied, with high acidity and very good length. This might be one of the most fascinating Rosés I have had in years.

Thin, acidic, watery body, not much fruit. B- grade is being slightly charitable.
