Outstanding - such depth of fruit, layers of plum, cherry and strawberry all wrapped up in silken tannins and chocolate. Secondary characters starting to develop - mushroom, forest floor - as well as cooked beetroot, aniseed and mint. Beguiling wine with a superbly long finish. Years ahead of it.

Needed at least 30mins decanted to open up, dark fruits with a almost caramel touch on the nose, the baked dark fruit flavours are now blended with the mature savoury notes and are balanced against the acidity very nicely, far more burg than malborough pinot but can't shake its origin completely, very good indeed and one of the few NZ pinots to handle aging well, could probably handle another couple of years
