  • Seventh bottle from a full case purchased en primeur. Pristine condition, perfect level and cork. Opened two hours in advance. A particularly fine bottle. Richly fragrant nose, roses, crushed red berries and spices; creamy texture, energetic but gentle palate, almost Burgundian in style, lovely density of ripe but fresh fruit, elegant and well-balanced, firm papery tannins; the dry but appetising finish indicating full maturity. Dedicated to the memory of Alexander Overdiep (b. 1951, d. 2024), long-time member and former president of the Académie des Cinquante, who recently reached the eternal vineyards on the other side.

  • Opened and decanted 30-min ahead of seared sesame beef and noodles. Dark purple-crimson color. Perfumed nose brings cherry blossoms, hot blueberry pie, chocolate cherries, grape menthol, and whiffs of spearmint and pipe tobacco. The palate is medium-full, round, and textured, bringing a rich core of blackberries, plums, and blackcurrant mixed with chocolate cherries and raspberries that flows into a savory finish of wild herbs, coffee, and dark chocolate. The finish is sweet and the tannins polished. Drink 2024-2028. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 92.

  • Really hitting its straps now. Glorious cassis core rapped with cocoa and smoke. The fruit is thick and it finishes dry, structured, but with melting tannins. Very enjoyable.

  • Sixth bottle from a full case purchased en primeur. Pristine condition, perfect level and cork. Opened two hours in advance. En pleine forme. Open and aromatic nose, peppery and spicy, red berries and cherries, hints of cream and beef stew; fresh and minerally, energetic palate, on the slender side, precise and transparent, crisp and with grippy tannins; relatively dry finish, hint of bell pepper, appetising but not expansive. Completely ready, drink now - 2030.
