  • 13% alc., Granatrot, leichte Randaufhellungen.
in der frischen Nase rote Beeren, vor allem schwarze Ribisel, etwas Leder, würzig.
am Gaumen schöne Balance, frische Säure, wieder Beerenfrüchte, reißt leider im Abgang relativ schnell ab.
    Netter Bordeaux.

  • As always the wines from Fonsac need time, time and time. So out of a case of 12 this was the first bottle I had. And it was as expected: Very nice aromas of black cherries, leather and wood. Full-body. The tannins are going to fade out over time but were already smooth. Long, silky finish. I liked it a lot.

  • I found the wine had a nice nose, well balanced, and a soft finish. Maybe I got a good bottle!

  • Very dissapointing bottle. Either this was an off bottle, or its just past its best drinking time (or this just never was any better).

Color: ruby red, somewhat brown towards edges.
Nose: strong rubber component, sour cherry jam, stewed fruits, earthy notes, hints of violets - nose quicky falls apart in the glass.
Palate/Taste: strong licorice notes at first which dissolve after a few hours of air; very earthy, moldy oak notes, slightly sour, supressed and dull fruit. Hollow midpalate and rather short and slightly bitter and astringent finish. Tannins are still a bit chewy here. Overall, very unfocused bottle lacking harmony. There is just too much moldy harsh oak paired with too little fruit and too little structure.

Unfortunately, I don't have another bottle to compare with. Maybe this one is really just flawed. But this bottle to me is like a 82-84 point wine.

  • Pleasant every day claret for drinking with food. Nothing outstanding but good value and drinking well now.
