Sample tasting at work (Oinoscent): Decanted for 30 minutes Thick red and blue fresh berry fruit notes, spice notes, youthful, a touch of reduction still (I’m guessing from the screwcup). Palate a bit warm, fresh, bitter notes (that will eventually go away after about 1.30 or so), juicy big tannins, blue berry, full body but elegant, kiwi happy red! A lot of baby fat to shed before getting in the right spot for me

Tasted at EMW grand tasting. I have been a fan of Craggy Range for a while. I had a great conversation with the representative and this wine was highly recommended to me. Elegant and fragrant. Great structure, fine tannins, and excellent body. Dark fruits, earthiness, black pepper, and violet. Quintessential cool-climate syrah. Great wine!

Hawkes Bay Tasting (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Ripe blackberry tends to plum fruit slides past compote towards the jammy, sweet spice, polished oak, cream. Juicy with silky wood based tannins which take precedence on the palate, touch of alcohol warmth, dark fruits, long but it's an awful lot of money for not quite as much fun as I would like

Grand Cru Shiraz (The four seasons hotel, the rocks, sydney): Savoury, closed, meaty, alcohol warmth, very slightly resinous, rocky minerality, gets prettier with time shows a little jubeyness. Medium plus intensity acidity, tight tannins are drying, alcohol warmth intrudes on the finish. time may help but this is quite disjointed at the moment.
