The wife made a lovely soup de pesto, anchored by Rancho Gordo flageolets. With a quick chill, ‘Faun’ was a lovely choice, very nice Zin, that has the same dimensions (ha, can a wine have dimensions?) as a good Beaujolais. Went very nice, Yum

Opened and slow ox'ed for 4h. Now 5.5h after opening. Initially bleach fruits with fairly prominent vanilla oak on palate. Now, around of ripe blackberries, unripe plums, herbs and some brambles. Palate w just super blackberries, unripe plums, bark, herbs, a touch of herbs, and the barest hint of vanilla oak. Nice finish of mild vanilla, tart blackberries, assume minerals and modest tannins. Nice acids on a medium body. A lighter styled zinfandel, which is right up my alley. I think several more years on it's side would benefit this wine - get better integration, esp the oak. But it's still delicious now albeit young.

Quite delicious. Old school vibe with a solid core of dark chocolate. Would have appreciated a touch more acidity to give a bit more lift. Otherwise well balanced. A touch hot on the back end. A chillin wine you can sip on and ponder. Cellar temp is where I prefer it. It gets a little unglued as it warms up. Agree there is a touch of VA which gives added complexity. Quite nice on day 2

This was a conversation wine consumed over one evening, so no rating.
Still, it was a pleasant drink and decidedly not a fruit bomb. Tannins were soft but started to gently grip as the wine warmed up.
My previous note stands: hold if possible, or drink now with a long decant.
