  • Spectacular wine that was phenomenal from the pop and only got better as the night wore on. The Rutherford dust appeared about 45 minutes in. Great nose with some dark red fruit profile on the palate. Bottle was in a perfect place and sad to say it was my only bottle of this vintage. I will look into procure more. Highly recommended especially with food.

  • This wine has moved toward its senescence since my 3/22 TN. My current thoughts: 1) this is still an excellent bottle off the PnP (94-95), but it starts losing steam about an hour thereafter; 2) best to recork this after opening, or even better, Coravin if you’ve got the hardware, and ideally finish in one night (although if you’re consuming alone, by all means don’t drive thereafter!), and 3) unless you’re storing your bottles in Chilly Willy’s igloo, drink these now. Bringing in my window by 6 years to reflect the above.

  • Unfortunately, cork weak, a bit flat at first taste. Was better after 90 minutes decanter. Curious about rest tomorrow

  • Fourth of 6 bottles, and like my last couple of notes, fun to have been drinking this slowly over many years (in this case, probably 6 or 7). Not unlike the recent ‘12 Larkmead, although starting from a more harmonious place, this has completely come together, with fruit and structure, sweetness, savoriness and secondary notes all not only balanced, but beautifully integrated. This was pretty much singing right out of the bottle, and although it incrementally benefited from about an hour of air, it may have lost half a step after night one (95+ to 94+), so I wouldn’t get too carried away with the air. Equally outstanding with food, in this case pizza, and on its own. This has taken on an almost Bordeaux-like quality with both rusticity and sophistication ascendant over power. Don’t agree with prior reviewer about the need to drink now or that this is anything but at its apogee, but I don’t think it’s likely to improve, and I’m most likely to drink my last 2 bottles over the next 18 months-2 years. That said, if you can get your hands on some at a decent price in the secondary market, it’s highly recommended. 94-95
