Served blind. I was thinking Loire Chenin but was absolutely floored to learn that this was from 1988. Nothing in the wine's appearance, aromas or tastes would place it as a nearly 30-year old wine. The nose was quite fresh and lifted with minerality and fuzzy Chenin fruit. The palate was exuberant and zippy. Good mineral character. Persistent on the palate. Excellent.

BYO Blind Tasting and Dinner (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind. I correctly thought it from Loire, but thought it much younger. Fresh tart apple with moderate weight and very good balance. Mineral textures were a real highlight here. Very good length, even if not necessarily very nuanced flavors.

The theme was Chenin Blanc and Northern Rhone. (Applewood): Gunflint aromas with a hint of yellow citrus pith. Austere and acidic on the palate. There's not much here other then mineral with a touch of dry honey. It's alive, but tough to like. C+.
