Quite pale in color. Nose shows citrus (ripe lemon), a bit of wet wool character, and white flowers. texture is quite full bodied and has most an oily feel. I get lemon, tropical fruit, and moderate + acidity on the palate.

Tastes more like a typical French savignon blanc - crisp white peach and lemon on the nose, with a tart, lemony body; and a zesty, slightly grassy finish. Late in the ballgame, some warmer flavors emerge - a little hint of peach and honey, and more minerality with the last, warmer, sips. Pretty straightforward, unlike the 2012.

Tasted blind. Bright, medium yellow, with a greenish hue. The tears are medium. The nose is clean, with baked apple, pear, citrus, apple blossoms, dried herbs, wax, honey, smoke and a touch of petrol. The nose is developing (+). The palate is off-dry, with medium (+) acidity and medium alcohol (13%). The palate is consistent with the nose, except that is shows additional minerality (crushed rock), organic earth notes (compost) and wet wool funkyness. Fairly classic, slightly-aged Chenin Blanc. It is in its optimal drinking window and should continue to show well for a couple more years.

A: Pale lemon-green N: Pronounced Intensity. Many said kerosene but it was much more like 'struck match' to me. Green leaves, wax, apple and pear and wet stone. There is something else here that more experienced members described as wet wool/lanolin. As a knitter, i will be honest, it wasn't the first conclusion to which i jumped. I just thought it was faulty. P: Spritz, dry, high acid, medium (+) body, medium intensity and if finish is measured as the length of time pleasant flavors take to dissipate, i really couldn't tell you the finish on this. The fruit was hidden deep beneath the 'funk'. C: I should have trusted the 'funk'. Somewhere William Bootsy Collins is saying the same thing. Everytime i taste something this unpleasant, its a premium chenin blanc.yet, I didn't guess the grape on this one. This is quite austere and about the purity of the fruit expression. I just don't enjoy this expression at all. I still think there is some sulphur in here. too much. Check Jancis Robinsons purple pages and she has complained about too much sulphur on this producers Savennieres before. Assuming that more experienced tasters in the group are correct in their assertion that this is not faulty, i have scored accordingly. Savenniéres supposedly makes some of the best dry chenin blanc in the world but i am disappointed. VERY GLAD, however, i had the opportunity to taste it. $25
