  Wow, a Tale of Two Cities...the last bottle (6 mos. ago) was clearly off, as this one was superb, about as good a bottle as you're going to find for $19 - med deep ruby w just the slightest hint still of purple - big fruity nose of plums and berries flirts with being jammy, but then the palate is ripe and fruity, with gobs of red and black fruit, but med bodied and elegant, not extracted, with great balance, good acidity and tannins, some judicious wood notes - really nice for the price and ticking along nicely at age eight.

  Excellent value and definitely has benefitted from a little bottle age. The last time we had this was back in march of 06 and this one was better. Good stuff, great value.

  I agree with the assessment from the previous note, but would more strongly recommend this wine and note that it is very fruit-forward. Colour is a mid-garnet - very bright. Some acidity present which perhaps indicates peak drinking in 2007-2008. Very nice mouth feel. and good 20 sec. finish. Bright raspberry and cherry fruit notes on the palate. Tastes darker than it looks.
  
  My only criticism would be a lack of balance. I would like slightly more tannins and oak. Hey, but that's just me.

  There are some great red wines coming out of Portugal these days and this is one of them. Nice color, medium bodied and smooth. 10/12/2005. Had this again 3/8/2006. Easy to drink and enjoy with nice fruit and a smooth texture. Good value.
