PnP - Billy Roulette. on the spendy side for St. Jo, but worth it. Completely smooth. No hard edges. All old school Serines selection. Not on the meaty/smoky/crunchy side. More on the forward, lithe, softer side of Syrah. Not terrifically complex, but very enjoyable. Drink up now - 4 years.

CT Texas V - North Dallas Forty and then some; 5/3/2013-5/5/2013 (McKinney, North Dallas, TX): This really surprised me I was not expecting much but this particular bottle delivered with a floral nose of blueberry, cracked pepper, red raspberry, game, hints of graphite and cedar. On the palate rich full expression of Syrah with black fruits, blueberry, black olive, pepper, and game. Long finish. My WOTN in a night of some very serious wines.

Nice nose generally typical of Rhone Syrah. Took at least 90 minutes to really open up and before then this seemed almost to be falling apart. Thick tannins. Fruit is nice on the finish, though the tannins take a bit away from the finish. Dark fruits, pencil shavings. Big wine.

dark red-purple color qualitative secondary & tertiary aroma, with fruity hints medium body, med-fruityness, balanced acidity, good level of tannins, dry & reduced, low-med harmony, no spiciness, below expected level for Syrah. Somewhat mediocre on the palate.
