Dark fruit, flowers and spirits nose, odd with only 13%. A feeling of elegance on the earthy dark plum palate, touches of pepper. Surprised its Cornas as so gentle but has aged well and enjoyed.

Random wines tasted during service (Oinoscent): Opened 16.00, decant 16.20m tasted 16.50) -/- The wine shows bright vivid profile, rusty, black fruit, old school character, earthy, elegant in the same time, plums and prunes. In the palate, the wine shows juicy tannins, a bit bloody/irony, a touch earthy and gamey, shows balancing acidity, smooth medium finish. Punching and kicking well above its weight, brilliant

First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): Served blind. Blackberry, earth, leather, sweet spice, whole bunch, black pepper, wild ferment. Slightly sour, persistent tannins are chalky textured, there is almost a touch of residual sugar but this might be an illusion created by the relative fruit sweetness. Having said that the acid and the tannins are quite enamel stripping and it has a touch of rusticity. I got as far as France, Syrah, Northern Rhone, ripe vintage but didn't take the logical step to Cornas based on the rusticity.

Translucent, almost opaque garnet. Attractive and layered notes of barnyard and black olive tapenade on the nose; medium-bodied, a deep savoury core of tar and smoked meat, the acidity sits slightly unbalanced on top and detracts. A reasonable effort.

Really delicious. Not much to add to the recent notes, other than to say this is still going strong. Will seek out more.
