  • Hints of iron on the nose but clears and becomes good, palate has jammy wild berries, earth, wood in a pleasant way.

  • Cocoa nose, palate is rich dried fruit, tar, spice, drinking nicely with some air. Still has a lot of life left. Drink now or hold

  • Very dark, slight bricking. Intoxicating nose of strawberry jam, raspberry, wild berry, earth, mint. Wet soil, cherry, burnt orange peel, licorice flavors with woodsy and herbal notes on the finish. Still tight and tannic. Toasty. Should continue to improve.

  • Decanted 3-4 hours. Dark ruby/black colour; opaque. Aromas of crushed black plums, blackberries, vanilla, leather, mint. Full-bodied, rich, surprisingly approachable with replays from nose and a hint of spice. Moderate-long finish, ~35-40s, with dark crushed fruit. Very nice, and significantly more approachable than the 1998 Paolo Conterno Barolo Ginestra served alongside it. Drink now-2018.

  • Dark purple color. Very smooth, sweet nose marked by polished, red fruit, oak and a whiff of chocolate. Clearly a Barbaresco in the more modern style. Quite pleasurable on the palate; bright red fruit, good spiciness and slightly bitter/astringent bite from the Nebbiolo. This wine drinks well now and it is by all means a technically well made wine, but it doesn't make my mind wander to the hills of Piedmont. I need more of a sense of place please.
