Fantastic leather and tobacco nose. Taste lacks depth and is a bit underwhelming. Thicker viscosity, which adds a velvety mouth-feel. Soft tannins. More for the Zin drinker than Cab. Would likely please a group and is priced nicely.

With some negative reviews about this wine, I was very pleasantly surprised with the nose. Dark cherry, smoky bacon, touch of leather, certainly much nicer than I had expected. Because it was so nice, though, I was expecting to grade this in the low 90s. Alas, not to be. On the palate it was much more middle of the road: no smoke, no bacon, no leather. There was some dark cherry, and a little eucalyptus. It's fairly dry, though, with good tannins and some solid length. Just a hint of bitterness which might calm out with another year or two in the cellar. Overall: better than expected but nothing to rave about. Also, on day 2, a lot of the day 1 nose had diminished, and it smelled more like it tasted. Wish it would have tasted more like it smelled. Certainly would drink again, but won't search it out and buy it. Much prefer Cousino Macul in the same price range.

Behold! And on the 3rd day it rose from the dead. Amazing. After 3-days in the fridge (we were as reluctant to chuck it as we were to drink it again) we did drink the 2009 Alamos cab again. A diferent wine. Good, but not overpowering, fruit emerged, held together by a fair semblance of structure. Even a modest finish to boot. A very pleasant drink. I am happy to amend my previous note and promise never to judge a wine on its first incarnation. 85-points.
