La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting. Rich and ripe black cherry and plum with meaty character. Very balanced and even-keeled through to its long finish. A very approachable 2009 that is already so fun now, but certainly with further upside.

This is a phenomenal young Burg and one of the better '09s I've had. I'm on record preferring Clair's Cazetiers to his CSJ and this is no different. This has a soaring nose of intense brambly fruit and a concentrated dark-berry palate and remains fresh and elegant. Obviously young and structured, but the tannins are fine and the fruit is so giving that there's no harm in opening one now. For my money, Bruno Clair is making some of the best wine in Burgundy these days.

This felt very warm, chocolaty, in the brown, bakery spectrum aromatically (vs green/blue foresty), more like a California Pinot. I wish for some more acidity and lift.

Far too young in my view, hasn’t yet developed the multi dimensionality which should emerge (as is already emerging for a few 09’s). At present, a pleasant drink and ripe/fruity per the vintage - but that’s not why you buy Bruno Claire? Suggest revisiting no sooner than 2024.

Joli nez sur le cacao et les fruits rouges; la bouche n'est malheureusement pas tout a fait en accord avec le nez, le fruit étant pollué par des notes végétales. C'est assez frustrant car l'on perçoit un potentiel.
