A tiny smidge of volatility on the nose to accompany the meaty, rocky, peppery notes and blue & blackberry fruit makes me happy that I chose to open this now rather than later. A little whole berry jubiness here as well. Touch of tapenade and Danish salted liquorice joins on the palate as well as talc textured and persistent tannins. Pretty yummy with beef daube...

A seductive, come hither nose of bacon and berries. A mouthful of round, ripe, blackberry fruit and complex secondary flavours of olives, gravel and even a bit of licorice. A long and satisfying finish. This is probably the best Cornas I have ever had, including a couple of Clape bottlings which I bought in the early '80s but which didn't impress me in the late '90s. (Thanks Chatters.)

Traditional comes to mind. It’s very much NOT about the process which is transparent here. This is the pure roasted slope of cornas in a perfectly balanced way, fresh fruit and dried flowers with a meatiness to match. Terroir is present and clear. This is a classic.

Decanted one hour. I recommend this. Good structure, and clearly will age longer, but also very drinkable now. Black pepper, some dark berry fruit, earth. Very good.

Cellartracker in the flesh with Stoic Warrior (Donald) (Fix St. James, 111 Elizabeth Street, Sydney): From Coravin. Green and black peppercorns, black and blue berry fruit, a little savoury, earthy, rocky minerality here as well. In the mouth it's fresh, juicy and fleshy, flavour profile is as per the nose with some tertiary mushroom notes as well, fine textured tannic burr. Nice
