Lunch a L'Operatta (Boat Quay): A very enjoyable white Burg - classic Puligny here. Lovely nose showed gentle white fruit, earth and mineral scents along with a touch of cream fraiche. The palate feigned to show lots of acid on the attack, but that flags very quickly, and some nicely integrated fleshy white fruit and cream notes came to the fore. Balance was still very decent for a 2005 though. Past that, the wine showed a dry chalky mid-palate with a bit of the powdery structure, and a nice creamy finish with some well-handled oak. Very friendly, almost pretty in the way it came together. Not the most outstanding wine, but everything was in precisely the right place, all in all making for a really nice drink.
