  • Rich and textured yellow fruit, medium ripeness with some notable alcohol, with air turning into Brie cheese, quite creamy and salty with decent weight. 93

  • Fantastic wine. Still at the best level.

  • Past its prime with advanced notes of almond, hazelnut and honey. Full and round in the mouth with some creme brulee flavours. Lacking detail and spark and finishing with a Sherry taste.

  • Deep golden colour but for the age and vintage not out of place. Third bottle I've had of this and what a revelation for the price and vintage. I regard carillon as a great producer and shows the real skill of a Domaine when they can pull off a result like this. A Montrachet from a different producer, same vintage had a week or two ago wouldn't hold a candle to this. Shows a molasses like sweet aroma along with some brûlée and secondary characters. The palate is where this wine shines though. Very complete and long getting better and better as the wine opens with class and balance. Gave me plenty of enjoyment and loads of character.

  • The colour indicates that its probably past it's best. The palate is another matter. Sure it's showing it's age but given the vintage its mighty impressive at fifteen years of age. Definitely needs drinking but actually got better the longer it sat in the glass. Shows subtle toasty characters and is backed up by a solid core of mineral flavours which elegantly carry a beautiful weight and length. Slightly savory saline edge which adds complexity. Considering this smashes the Drouhin Montrachet had the other night from the same vintage at nearly ten times the price it must be considered an absolute bargain (at $40).
