  • Milton's Birthday (Chao Shan): Very impressive. There was perhaps just a tiny hint of TCA beginning to slip in, but not quite enough to mark flawed. The nose was just lovely, with lovely drifts of honey and nectar alongside sweet corn and white chocolate, ripe red apples, water chestnut, and just a little hint of white flowers. Beautiful Puligny nose I thought. The palate was where this really shine though - bright, energetic, lively, with a beautiful spine of mineral and lemony acidity laced through pure, limpid notes of red and green apples, bright lime zest, and a lovely stony minerality that was pure Perrieres terroir to me. Not the most complex, but this was pure, balanced and long, with a lovely sense cut abs definition throughout. Very drinkable, and will get even better in a couple of years. Good stuff.

  • this is quite impressive - a top wine that is very mature - it is golden you have a very nice almost delicate acidity (medium-) that is very good integrated in to the wine. Lots of minerality - I am pleased I kept this wine for long before drinking it

  • Golden color! Beautiful nose of white fruits, apricot, peach and white currant and of course nice mineral in there! The acidity is fresh and it is just right and in good balance, echoing the nose very very well! Drink now but I'm not in a hurry!

  • A rich golden colour (always a concern for premox for a 2001) but a clean, vibrant nose with lingering fruit and acidity. While past its best, no premox and a good accompaniment to any meal. Drink over next 12 months.
