  • Ruby, medium (+) intensity, no particular sign of aging. Nose is medium in intensity, with the red and black fruit giving way to organic, and earthy aromas of mushrooms and forest floor. The palate is dry, with some nice fruit at the fore palate, with the medium acidity, tannins and alcohol (13.5%) all nicely balanced. A very well made, harmonious wine which is in its prime drinking window. Drink now through 2016.

  • 3 years in the cellar has made a huge difference.

  • All the hallmarks of the A.C. - blackcurrant, vanilla and spice. Very fruit forward Cote de Blaye. Good balance, lively and fresh. A very pleasant wine if a little unmemorable. Had hoped for more given the vintage but it is a little early. Would drink again happily but nothing too special.

  • Deep garnet color and pure aromas of blackcurrant and raspberry, overlain with vanilla and spice notes from the oak maturation. A soft-textured wine, with sufficient tannins to make it a good match for lamb or beef. An excellent choice for an everyday wine.

  • Deep purple-black fully opaque but translucent at the edge. Nose is heavy very young oak, fresh-sawn plank wood, deep-fruited blackberries and ripe black plums. Quite high nail varnish volatile alcohol (not surprising as it's 14.5%). Palate is sharp blackberry-driven bright acidity followed by plum stone and no noticeable high alcohol. Quite heady...very heady. Needs time but is impressive quality for a US$12 wine from Waitrose in the UK. Delicious and superb QPR. I'm amazed this is 60% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon but it's the 20% Malbec that makes its particular "black" character.
