  • After last night's debacle I retreated to an old fav. Call it mid-week comfort wine. At almost 5 years its starting to fade but still a tasty sip. Light, toned down, softing fruits, with a touch of earthy dust.

    My last bottle. Alas, alas.

  • Light, easy drinking. Not at all "challenging", but great for what it is. What it isn't is cheap anymore unfortunately. I have called it the Rosenthal "kiss" before (you know, write a back label that says way more about you than the wine and charge an extra $7-$10 for the privilege ...... ) but I have begun to notice market pushback and this wine has actually dropped in price a dollar or two in recent vintages. Anyway, light, core of nice pure red berries with dust edges. Early barnyard funk on the nose but this quickly blew off and red fruits abound. On the palate slight bitter tones mingle with fruit and oak (??) . Great food wine. Not a long term ager.

  • Aromas of red berry fruit, herbs, minerals and earth. Not really complex, but well balanced with a light-medium bodied frame and good acidity. Decent finish. Went well with braised duck legs.

  • Nice, medium bodied, with just enough fruit and acids to make this a delightful BBQ wine. Something different but delightful. I always keep a few bottles of this handy, year in and year out (I only keep the good years, lol, lol). Berries and earth, rustic but light enough to pair well with a wide range of foods.

My only gripe is that as a Rosenthal Selection, the back label tells you how great he is and nothing whatsoever about the wine. Shame, as he would probably sell more (get that - make more $$$) if he said a little something about the wines so that those less obsessed than I might actually try a bottle.

  • Synthetic cork. Fresh and fruity, showing crisp and tart cranberry fruit notes and lively acidity. Light- to medium-bodied, with some nascent complexity on the finish. At the table, this is a useful wine that can play a similar role as a Cru Beaujolais. @MNWineGuy
