Rather brett-y and not much fruit. An acquired taste for sure. Brett subsides a bit after an hour and becomes a hint of bubble-gum perfume. Still, this is an ovewhelmingly earthy wine.

Subtle fig and cherry is hidden deep in Brett that took hours of air to become tolerable. As tasted, an 81. This bottle was educational to me, as it demonstrated Brettanomyces as a contaminant rather than simply a component of the wine. So I am not convinced that another bottle of the same vintage would be so prominently horsey. Brett exists on a continuum from a spicy, interesting component to an intolerable, fruit-destroying contaminant. Where to draw the line is, of course, subjective.
